This is rarely the case but right now, Real Madrid are a fragile club.
It’s been a dreadful season for Los Blancos by their exceptional standards as they lie twelve points adrift of LaLiga table-toppers Barcelona, they were knocked out of the Champions League after being taught a footballing lesson by Ajax and are also out of the Copa del Rey.
The reappointment of Zinedine Zidane as manager may give the club a lift but there is still a lot of work to do at the Bernabeu.
However, despite all the doom and gloom, Real Madrid continue to be linked with some of the top names in world football.
Chelsea star Eden Hazard appears to be holding out for a move to the Spanish capital while Manchester United’s Paul Pogba recently said playing for Real under Zidane would be a ‘dream’.
Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen’s transfer to Real is a ‘very strong possibility’, talkSPORT has been told.

LATEST TRANSFER NEWS
Goalkeeper (Thibaut Courtois)
There have been question marks about Thibaut Courtois this season but given his contract lasts until 2024, he’s viewed as a long-term investment by the club.
If David de Gea ever becomes available then the Belgian might have something to worry about but for now Courtois’ position as the No.1 keeper looks reasonably safe.
Defence (Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal)
Real have looked frail at the back on frequent occasions this season but they still have world-class defenders among their ranks.
And if anyone can galvanise them into getting their form back it’s Zidane, who is adored by everyone connected with the club having won three Champions League titles in his first stint as manager as well as a catalogue of trophies as a player for Los Blancos.
Reports have emerged that Raphael Varane is considering his future in Spain with Manchester United lurking but surely the France international wouldn’t turn his back on arguably the biggest club in the world and French football legend Zidane.
Midfield (Pogba, Casemiro, Eriksen)
Although Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or this year, Real Madrid will be looking to find a long-term replacement for the midfielder who turns 34 this year.
And it looks like Pogba can see himself playing for the Spanish giants one day and European football expert Kevin Hatchard said on talkSPORT 2 that Eriksen could also be set for a move to Spain.
Manchester United should ‘GET RID’ of Paul Pogba, talkSPORT told
Bringing N’Golo Kante to Real would benefit Pogba hugely and also fill that Claude Makelele shaped hole that the club have lacked since 2004 but rumours that the Chelsea man wants to leave Stamford Bridge have gone quiet lately.
Toni Kroos has been omitted from this XI as there is speculation the German is heading to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Attack (Isco, Benzema, Hazard)
Hazard, who has revealed Zidane is someone he looks up to, moving to Real would give them an added freshness up front.
His preferred position is on the left of a front three and he would get many opportunities to score given Karim Benzema spent many seasons being the bridesmaid to ex-Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The spot on the right of the front three is up for grabs and although Gareth Bale started Real Madrid’s win over Celta Vigo last weekend, his future at the club is by no means secure and Isco was preferred by Zidane last season.
