Manchester United have been handed some transfer advice from an unlikely source ahead of the transfer window and many supporters will hope the club follow it.
Danny Murphy spent seven seasons at rivals Liverpool and once scored a famous winner against them, but right now he’s handing them tips on who to bring in.
He told the Daily Mail: “If I were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, I’d ask Ed Woodward to make five important signings this summer as a matter of priority: two centre-halves and three midfielders.
“Manchester United can’t cure their problems in one transfer window but they have to think strategically to get even close to Manchester City and Liverpool.
“Their transfer policy should be a mixture of ready-made buys and the best young players in the world.”

He’s not messing about, either, insisting the Red Devils should attempt to sign players from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Both N’Golo Kante and Toby Alderweireld are on Murphy’s wishlist for Solskjaer with an £80million bid advised for the former, and the activation of the latter’s £25million release clause.
Meanwhile, he reckons the Red Devils should go all out for Ajax wonderkid Matthijs De Ligt and Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield maestro Marco Verratti.
The final piece in the jigsaw? Barcelona star Andre Gomes, currently proving himself a good Premier League addition on loan at Everton.
But how would Murphy’s dream team look like if Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward got his chequebook out? Find out below.
Manchester United need to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market if he's to have any chance of delivering success as the manager. Danny Murphy has recommended five signings for the club to strike this summer.
