Tottenham Hotspur stadium: 10 things we can’t wait for at the new White Hart Lane, including the South Stand and the longest bar in Europe

Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium is set to open its doors on Sunday for their first test event.

Spurs’ Under-18s will face Southampton at the world-class arena as they attempt to get the correct certification which will finally allow them to move in permanently after almost two years at Wembley.

Spurs will finally say hello to their new home on April 3rd

It promises to be an amazing occasion, six days ahead of a legends match against Inter Milan where around 40,000 people will descend and enjoy an awesome spectacle ahead of it’s official opening against Crystal Palace on April 3.

After so long away form White Hart Lane, many fans will be giddy with excitement but what should they be looking out for at their new home, which is full is wonderful flourishes and historic touches?

talkSPORT.com highlights 10 things Tottenham supporters will be excited to see/do at the arena.

1. The South Stand

Most supporters will want to be part of the noisy ‘White Wall’ which is set to get the atmosphere going at the new Stadium.

At maximum capacity, 17,500 will sit/stand in the biggest single-tier stand in the UK.

Some of it has also been future-proofed with safe-standing capabilities.

2. The Market Place

Don’t fancy heading home straight away? The club are set to host post-match entertainment including live music, Q&As with legend, and show Premier League matches for supporters.

3. Cock and ball story

One sight most supporters are looking forward to is seeing the scaled up replica of the famous Golden Cockerel on top of the South Stand.

It’s 4.5metres tall and sits at the edge of the roof, including every bump and scratch on the real one – including the dent caused by Paul Gascoigne with an air rifle!

4. At the centre of it all

With the stadium built over the site of White Hart Lane, the club have ensured the history of the old ground remains.

In the South Atrium, Spurs have marked the position of the centre spot allowing fans to stand where 2,533 matches started.

The Park Lane penalty spot will also have a plaque.

5. Eat and drink football

At White Hart Lane the stadium would close almost immediately with fans diving out to watering holes along the High Road and the surrounding areas.

Now, though, the club are going keep bars in the arena open for around two hours allowing fans to meet up after the game for a post-match pint.

We reckon many will fancy heading to the Goal Line bar – the longest bar in Europe at 65 metres in length.

The Taproom is also likely to be busy thanks to Beavertown Microbrewery where fans can try a whole host of craft beers.

6. History boys

If you know your history, but just wanted to do some brushing up, you can head to the Tottenham Hotspur Archive in the Grade II listed Warmington House where you can get controlled access to records and artefacts. The Club Museum is located in the same building, where fans once met before matches.

7. The floor in concourses

Okay, it doesn’t sound too excited by woven into concrete beneath fans’ feet at the new arena will be part of the old White Hart Lane.

Workers crushed aggregate remaining from the demolished stadium put it into the mixture for the flooring ensuring the old will be permanently intertwined with the new.

â€Ĺ“What’s amazing is we’re actually walking on memories,” Ledley King told the club’s official website.

â€Ĺ“We’re entering into a new era for the club and the area but the past will always be with us and the legacy of the Lane lives on.”

We think someone’s cutting onions, Ledley.

8. A walk on the wild side

If you’ve got a head for heights then you might want to take in the Sky Walk, where you will eventually be able to take in views of the stadium and London before abseiling from the roof to ground level.

9. The Shelf Bar

Spurs worked hard to ensure remnants of the old stadium remained and this watering hole is the proof.

They salvaged bricks from the old East Stand and put them in place in the Shelf Bar, named after the famous area of White Hart Lane.

The metal work in place is inspired by the design of the old terrace too.

10. Feature walls

Forget the blank white walls of White Hart Lane, the club has implemented several large scale pictures for supporters to enjoy.

One is a collage of old programme covers, another is an abstract map of the local area, while there are many others to watch out for around the stadium.
