Paul Gascoigne has made a plea to Tottenham to be involved in the opening of their new stadium.
Gazza, the England legend, spent four years representing the Lilywhites, though he only played for the club for three seasons due to the knee injury he suffered which ruled him out the entire 1991/92 campaign.
He picked up his injury in the 1991 FA Cup final – a match Tottenham went on to win – with Gazza eventually going on to play for Lazio, Rangers and Middlesbrough before enjoying shorter spells with Everton, Burnley, Gansu Tianma and Boston United.
The 51-year-old is a hero to the Tottenham faithful, but he has so far been overlooked for a legends match which will be played as the second test event for Spurs’ new ground.
LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS
Tottenham intend to open their £1billion arena next month, with the Premier League visit of Crystal Palace the first scheduled fixture, but the stadium has to host two test events to be awarded the correct safety certificates.
The first event sees Spurs’ Under-18 side take on Southampton this Sunday, before a legends side play Inter Forever the following Saturday.

The likes of Robbie Keane, Rafael van der Vaart, Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Anderton have all been confirmed as part of the team, which will be managed by Gary Mabbutt, but Gazza is surprisingly absent.
And having been made aware of the legends match by users of social media website Twitter, Gazza threw his hat into the ring to make it clear he will take part in the game.
Graham Roberts, the former Spurs defender, commented on the post to express his support for Gazza’s inclusion in the legends match.
Gazza actually missed Tottenham’s farewell to White Hart Lane two years ago, as he was ‘focusing on staying well’, rather than travelling to north London for the revelry.
Tottenham are hoping that Paul Gascoigne will be involved in the Legends game at their new stadium later this month. He tweeted this week that he would be keen to be part of the glamour fixture.
