Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has opened the door for Nabil Fekir to leave the club.
Fekir, 25, was close to completing a £53million move to Liverpool last summer, but the Reds pulled the plug on the deal due to concerns over his knee.
Despite the France international’s failed move, Liverpool have been continually linked with the French playmaker.
And Aulas is resigned to losing his star man.
He said: “Effectively, Nabil is outside [of the two departures expected], because we have an understanding that he can go.
“Thanks Nabil for bringing what he brought, we have an understanding to let him go.
“We will work on making signings. We are going to try to lose as few players as possible. We are also going to strengthen.
“We are quickly going to have it out with [new sporting director] Juninho and [head coach] Sylvinho.”
Fekir has been identified as a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona for £142million in January 2018.

Liverpool lacked creativity in midfield during the 2018/19 season as they finished a point behind champions Manchester City.
The Reds have reportedly been keeping tabs on Fekir’s Lyon team-mate, Memphis Depay, who could also leave this summer.
The former Manchester United winger uploaded a video to his Instagram story, which showed him walking towards a private jet with the caption ‘Merci [goodbye] Lyon’.
